REN Rave

So, I mentioned a few posts back that I got a few REN face masks and well...a lot has happened since then. I did a lot of research online and had a few products I wanted to check out. I was going to wait until I used up the ones I had, but I was desperate people, I was desperate! My skin has been acting out lately & I just needed to do something about it, ASAP. Of course it wasn't an overnight miracle cure but hopefully if I give it time, my skin will learn to love it.

I got the Clarimatte Invisible Pores Detox Mask first & I think that is my favourite out of all the products I have. My skin feels so soft afterwards & it's helping clear up my blemishes, etc. The Glycolactic Mask makes your skin more radiant & it smells quite citrusy & nice.

I use the Rosa Centifolia to remove my make up & I looooove using the hot towel on my face afterwards. It's so relaxing after a long day & I just can't get enough. The rose scent was a little too much for me at first but I've grown to love it. After that, I cleanse my face with the Clearcalm 3 Clay Cleanser. Again, the smell was a little unusual - a little plastic-y, but I'm used to it now so it's quite nice as well.

After I wash my face, I finish with the Clarimatte T-Zone Balancing Gel-Cream which has the same lavender scent as the mask in the same Clarimatte line. It's very relaxing & not too heavy on the skin & it keeps my skin less oily throughout the day.

And while I waiting in the line to pay, I saw a tiny tub of the famous GLAMGLOW Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Mask & wow, they really mean tingle. It stung so much at first I thought it was too harsh for my skin, but no, it leaves my skin so clean & exfoliated. When I use this up (and save up a little more!), I'll most definitely be getting the bigger tub.

Unfortunately, post-Christmas sales means more shopping for Annie Rose. And rather than gifts, my relatives usually give me money for Christmas so...permission to spend? :P Oh well, I'd love your advice when it comes to skin care because as I said earlier, I'm desperate!

Love Always,
Anna Banana ♡

  1. I wish I had some advice for you, ha! I've only ever used generic ex-foliating scrubs to help with acne. They do the job, but they can leave your skin dry (which I like, but I know some people do not). I recently saw a review on NSPA products (similar things to what you have here) and they sound delightful (http://heycharlieblog.com/2014/12/21/thiswinteryouneed/) but I haven't personally tried them.
Hopefully you find something that works for you!!

    1. Awesome! Thank you so much for that, I'm definitely going to have to check that out. I do kinda like the dry feeling - I definitely prefer that over my skin being too oily. But anyways, thanks again. xx

  2. What problems are you having exactly? My skin atm is really horrendously dry and dehydrated so I splurged on my skincare. You should post on forum.salihughesbeauty.com the people are there wonderful and really know their stuff!

Continue doing your double cleanse but also invest in a milk or cream cleanser as clay cleansers can sometimes be too drying. I really like Clarins Gentle Milk Cleanser and Sanctuary Hot Cloth Cleanser too. I find that a good cleansing oil can really help when your skin is congested and needs TLC - Sanctuary Cleansing Oil is lovely but I don't know if you have that in Aus.

You've got a lot of cleansers and masks above but you haven't said what you're putting back into your skin. One other thing I'd advise you to do is to layer your skincare: use serums and oils in addition to your moisturising and cleansing. Serums are much better at targeting concerns than moisturiser alone. My skin atm is very dehydrated so I use either Caudalie SOS Moisture Serum or the REN Omega 3 serum which is lovely and soothing. Also, only exfoliate 2-3 times a week. I've recently put my slom through a lot by over-exfoliating!

Sorry if this all seems a little over the top!

    1. It's supposed to "out my skin through a lot" not slom! Apologies if there are any other errors - I'm using my tablet! x

    2. Haha no it's not over the top at all, thank you so much. I do use the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate which is quite soothing. I have more of a problem with bumpy skin & it's more oily than dry so I'll see how I go with the clay cleanser & if it dries out my skin too much or not. I do use a moisturising mask as well so that keeps it hydrated. Thank you so much for all your advice! xx

    3. Could it be milia? If so see the following link:http://www.carolinehirons.com/search/label/milia that might help!

I use RENs exfoliating toner to help smooth out my skin and it really helps so perhaps try that? x

  3. I had a bout of break outs after moving house and my skin is slowly clearing up. I'm not sure whether it was dust, stress, excessive sweating, lack of sleep, etc. that caused my skin to flare up. I started culling out several products that I seem to react badly to and am now using a rather simple regime. I purchased a few REN skincare items and absolutely love the Hot Cloth Cleanser (which I reviewed on my beauty blog). I'm now just using a cleanser, toner, serum and moisturiser / sunscreen (for the daytime) and my skin seems to be doing better with this basic routine. Try not to over-exfoliate as it may exacerbate your skin condition. I've learned that the "dry feeling" actually means my skin is dehydrated and it can create more problems.

    1. I'm exactly the same way! My skin is so sensitive to stress. That's so great to hear your skin is doing okay now. I think I just have to keep with it & see how it goes. Thank you so much for your advice. xx.
